A touch of Hollywood in Leipzig: Patrick Dempsey arrives at the Opera Ball in the 919 Tribute
Before the 919 Tribute’s Final Drive into the Porsche Museum, one of Germany’s most beautiful cities was still on the tour program: bustling Leipzig, which is glamorously nicknamed Little Paris for a reason. And October 13th, 2018, was indeed glamorous in many respects. As if the Leipzig Opera Ball alone were not a feast enough for the senses, the audience was amazed to see Hollywood star, and Porsche brand ambassador, Patrick Dempsey drive up to the red carpet in the 919 Tribute.
The debonair Hollywood star had a special mission on this evening. Dempsey made a special appearance at the big Opera Ball raffle draw and caused the heart of at least one woman, Yvonne Franke from Halle an der Saale, to beat faster. As the first-prize winner, she was presented with a brand-new Porsche 718 Boxster in GT Silver Metallic with a red top and leather interior in the same color. This striking combination is a throwback to the legendary Porsche 356 “No. 1” Roadster, the very first Porsche sports car. An homage to 70 years of Porsche sports car history.
For six years, Porsche has been donating the main raffle prize, a sports car. And, once again, all raffle tickets were sold. The proceeds went to the “Leipzig hilft Kindern” foundation, which supports projects of associations in and around Leipzig that help children. This year, the money will benefit the associations “großstadtKINDER – Theatrium,” “Wolfsträne” and “Bemmchen-Leipzig.”
“Porsche is part of Leipzig. We’ve been producing sports cars in Saxony for 16 years now, we are an employer to thousands of people, and we have found a second home here. We feel it is important to be more than a driving economic force in the region. We would like the city and the people to have a share in our success. That’s why I’m delighted that Porsche will again be part of the Leipzig Opera Ball next year,” says Gerd Rupp, Chair of the Executive Board of Porsche Leipzig GmbH.
